NTA to Release NEET-UG 2024 Results City-wise and Centre-wise Following Supreme Court Order
The Supreme Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to publish the NEET-UG 2024 results in a manner that ensures transparency and anonymity. The results must be available on the NTA’s website by Saturday 12 pm, categorized by city and center, with candidate identities masked. This directive comes in response to allegations of irregularities, including paper leaks and mark inflation.
Fresh NEET-UG 2024 Exam Dependent on Evidence of Widespread Exam Compromise
The Supreme Court emphasized that any decision to conduct the NEET-UG 2024 exam afresh must be based on substantial evidence proving that the exam’s integrity was compromised. The petitioners’ counsel highlighted inconsistencies in the NTA’s explanation of mark inflation, attributing it to changes in the syllabus. The NTA’s stance, however, did not account for the purported increase in syllabus content. The bench has scheduled a further hearing for Monday to explore these issues in depth.
CJI Chandrachud Examines NEET Paper Leak Possibilities and Financial Incentives
Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud questioned the mechanics of the NEET paper leak, emphasizing that the motive was financial gain rather than creating a widespread scandal. “People were doing it for money. Therefore anybody who is making money out of it won’t circulate it on a mass scale,” remarked CJI Chandrachud. The Court explored two primary scenarios: the leak could have occurred before the papers were secured in banks or during their transportation to the exam centres.
Supreme Court Seeks Detailed Information on NEET-UG 2024 Exam Irregularities
The Court has directed the NTA to provide detailed information on students who changed their exam cities and whether there was any bias towards those who registered on specific dates. This investigation aims to uncover any unfair advantages or patterns among the top 1.08 lakh candidates. Nearly 40 pleas regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam are currently under the Supreme Court’s scrutiny.
The Supreme Court’s intervention reflects its commitment to upholding the integrity of the NEET-UG 2024 exam. By ordering the NTA to publish the results transparently and investigating the alleged irregularities, the Court aims to restore confidence in the medical entrance examination process.
