The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B), has wrapped up its placement season for 2023-2024, marking another successful year. This year, a total of 1979 students actively participated in the placements, with 1475 students accepting job offers from a pool of 1650 offered by 364 companies. The data reflects the institute’s continuous pursuit of excellence in education and career opportunities for its students.
High-Paying Job Offers at IIT Bombay**
Among the 1475 accepted offers, a notable highlight is that 22 students have secured packages above Rs 1 crore, reflecting the high demand for IIT Bombay talent in the job market. The presence of multinational corporations (MNCs) and major tech firms played a crucial role in offering these lucrative packages, aligning with the students’ aspirations for challenging and rewarding careers.
International Job Offers See a Slight Dip Due to Global Factors**
This year, IIT Bombay saw an increase in international job offers, with 78 offers coming from firms based in countries like Japan, Taiwan, Europe, UAE, Singapore, the USA, Netherlands, and Hong Kong, up from 65 in the previous year. However, the overall number of international recruiters witnessed a slight dip, largely due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and the subdued global economic environment, as mentioned by IIT Bombay in an official statement.
Diverse Career Choices Beyond Placements: Higher Studies and Entrepreneurship**
Not all students aimed for corporate placements. Out of the total students, 435 chose to deregister from the placement process. Many of these students are planning to pursue higher studies such as MS, MTech, PhD, or MBA courses. Others have opted for diverse career paths, including entrepreneurship and preparation for civil services, indicating a broadening scope of ambition beyond traditional job roles.
