Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar has prompted heightened security measures and anticipation. The two-day visit, starting Thursday, is set to include several significant events and announcements. Here are the top ten updates on PM Modi’s visit to Srinagar.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have implemented a comprehensive multi-tier security arrangement to ensure the safety of PM Modi during his visit. IGP Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, informed ANI that a high-alert security protocol has been established. This includes rigorous checks and extensive surveillance to preempt any security threats.
In preparation for the visit, the Srinagar police have declared the city a ‘Temporary Red Zone’ for the operation of drones and quadcopters. Unauthorized drone activities within this zone will face penalties under the Drone Rules, 2021. This measure aims to prevent any aerial threats during the Prime Minister’s stay.
PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar on Thursday evening. At approximately 6 PM, he will participate in the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC). The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Jammu and Kashmir. This includes the launch of the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), aimed at boosting the region’s agricultural productivity.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 84 major developmental projects valued at over Rs. 1,500 crore. The visit will see the Prime Minister laying the foundation stone for projects aimed at improving infrastructure. This includes the development of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, new industrial estates, and six government degree colleges. A key highlight of the visit is the launch of the ₹1,800 crore Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project. This ambitious project will be implemented across 90 blocks in 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to benefit 300,000 households and 15 lakh beneficiaries.
The JKCIP Project is designed to have an extensive outreach, covering a significant portion of the region’s population. By improving agricultural competitiveness, the project aims to boost the income of farmers and enhance the overall agricultural landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Friday, June 21, PM Modi will attend the 10th International Day of Yoga event at SKICC. He will address the gathering and participate in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) Yoga session. The event is expected to draw 3,000 to 4,000 attendees, showcasing the widespread appeal of yoga.
